Blue Ridge Pride hopes to bring together all people of the LGBTQ and allied friends population of WNC and the Blue Ridge Area.
Building Connections & Finding Support
The Outreach and Education committee will be communicating to the community about existing resources and developing ways to share information with you over the course of the PRIDE events. The committee seeks to incorporate the perspective, interests, and experience of the entire community. It is our goal to incorporate a diverse range of voices so that participants in PRIDE events both feel welcome, and have the opportunity to engage with others.
As the committee learns more, the list of activities will grow to incorporate the increasing number of people involved. Below are some emerging ideas:
-Talk to people, gather pictures, and develop a narritave about the story of how PRIDE emerged, and about the people who were at the forfront of change in Western Carolina long before PRIDE had a name.
-Connect with a broad range or organzied groups to learn about what the'd like to see during PRIDE, and how they might be able to help.
-Foster creative expression and creating space for people to share their expierence through things like discussion circles, movie nights, theatre productions, or art instalations.
-Develop a broad range of educational resources for people who are seeking to engage in life
-Create opportunities for connection and partnership that can go beyond the PRIDE event itself.
At PRIDE: Building a Community If you are a non-profit vendor, a for-profit vendor, a group or an individual who is interested in learning about how you can use your experiences and knowledge to make the PRIDE event better, feel free to contact Amy and Naydheen.
